Dr. KC Yarborough On His Passion For Music

It has been said that music is a universal language. Music has the ability to bridge the gap and causes people to come together in harmony. It has been scientifically proven that there is a link between the arts of music and how the human brain functions. Music is also an enormous tool for soothing stress and helping individuals in high-level industries to decompress. Dr. KC Yarborough has been a lover of music ever since he was a child. He was not only a vocally gifted performer, but he had the ability to play several instruments. Yarborough feels a strong connection to music and appreciates many genres, such as Classical, R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Funk, Symphony, Country and Country Pop. Scientists could postulate that this enjoyment of music is not only an emotional response to the sounds, but also a physiological response that occurs within his brain.

When we listen to music, our brains react in many ways. In fact, at least ten different parts of the brain are stimulated each time we hear a tune. Parts of the brain, such as the motor cortex help us to find the rhythm or beat of a song, while areas like the amygdala help to create our emotional reactions to the music that we hear. In addition, the sensory cortex allows us to work our tactile senses when playing an instrument, and the visual cortex allows us to read sheet music or appreciate a stage performance.

Of the many scientific findings that link brain activity to music exposure, the most common and recognized is the brain's ability to be more creative with the right type of musical background. This is not to say that creative people have to blast very loud music to get their imaginations to move. Actually, scientists believe that low ambient noises, which are subtle, are the best sounds to listen to when someone wants to be creative. Dr. KC Yarborough surrounds himself with music and uses the power of music to decompress from long hour days consumed with the demands of an international business. Music helps him to recuperate from the heavy stress and come up with creative and strategic business strategies.
